About the book

About The Integration Playbook

Buying a company does not make it part of yours. The customers still need their orders, the people still need answers, and the business still has to run while you change it. The work is to earn the deal without breaking what made the company worth buying.

The Integration Playbook follows one invented add-on from the claims written before the first call, through the work after closing, to the review of what the deal actually delivered. It is written for the platform CEO, the integration leader and the sponsor, with a job for each of them.

Bill Canady puts the operating decisions beside the deal decisions, so the plan is built before the price is approved and the promises are carried into the business.

The continuing example is an invented school-furniture acquisition, Haverkamp School Products. Its companies, people and figures are made up, so you can follow the same deal from the first written claims through the review two years after closing. Your team does the work in The Integration Playbook · The Field Guide.

“This book is part of the few business books that have changed my life. Even though the 80/20 principles are simple, implementing 80/20 can be challenging, but Bill shares how he did it multiple times, the obstacles he faced, and how to make the changes stick.”
